At the Sustainability in Business conference, organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest in October 2025, key industry leaders, public authorities, and ESG professionals gathered to evaluate the progress of Romanian companies toward sustainability goals. The event offered a valuable platform for public-private dialogue on the tools needed to accelerate the green transition—covering emissions reduction, energy efficiency, circular economy, and sustainable mobility.
In a context where transportation remains one of the most carbon-intensive sectors in Romania, electric mobility is no longer just a responsible option—it is a strategic business decision. Eldrive Romania joined this vital conversation by presenting its vision and integrated solutions for building a smart, scalable, and user-focused EV charging network that serves both individual drivers and corporate fleets.
Eldrive Romania: Smart Infrastructure for Sustainable Electric Mobility
At Eldrive Romania, our mission is clear: to accelerate the transition to electric mobility by developing a national charging network that meets the real needs of EV users. This vision is shaped around three strategic pillars:
High charging speeds – Fast and ultra-fast DC stations of up to 400 kW that drastically reduce charging time and eliminate range anxiety.
Accessibility and coverage – Strategically located stations in urban areas, shopping centers, and along major transit corridors.
Seamless user experience – Charging hubs with multiple connectors, a user-friendly app, and intelligent real-time systems that simplify every charging session.
Our Impact in 2025
In 2025 alone, Eldrive Romania’s customers consumed over 4.5 GWh of electricity, avoiding more than 2,500 tons of CO₂ emissions. These savings not only help reduce the transport sector’s carbon footprint but also improve urban air quality and decrease noise pollution—enhancing the quality of life in Romanian cities.
Business Fleets: Driving the Transition
Corporate vehicle fleets play a critical role in decarbonizing transport. Across Europe, fleets represent a significant share of new vehicle registrations and a higher usage intensity, meaning greater potential for emission reductions through electrification—a fact confirmed by Eurelectric.
According to the Arval Romania / Mobility Observatory 2025, 59% of Romanian companies have already adopted or intend to adopt green fleet technologies. However, only 28% have actually implemented them—mainly due to the lack of charging infrastructure, a barrier cited by 77% of respondents.
To support this transition, Eldrive offers a full suite of services for companies looking to electrify their fleets—combining consulting, dedicated infrastructure, digital platforms, and operational support.
Romania’s EV Market: Challenges and Outlook
According to Roland Berger, EV sales in Romania dropped by over 40% in the first half of 2025, following subsidy reductions. The EV market share fell from 13% to 11%, yet there are strong signs of recovery:
• the Rabla Plus incentive program has been relaunched,
• new affordable EV models with improved range and energy efficiency have entered the market (e.g., Hyundai Inster, Renault 5, MG, Ford Puma EV),
• new players are expanding into Romania (BYD, Geely, Lynk&Co).
User behavior reflects the need for better infrastructure:
• only 40% can charge at home,
• 60% consider public charging infrastructure insufficient,
• roughly 26% of kilometers driven are charged at fast (DC) stations.
Eldrive’s Expanding Network and Fleet Solutions
With nearly 800 charging points operational across Romania and a total installed capacity of 35 MW, Eldrive is on track to reach 1,000 charging points by the end of 2025. For 2026, we plan to add another 40 MW to the network and install Southeastern Europe’s first 1 MW charging station, positioning Romania as a regional hub for electric mobility.

• Autocharge function: Plug-and-charge capability at DC stations with CCS connectors—ideal for fleet users who need quick and secure sessions without extra authentication steps.
• Full-service fleet packages: Consulting, training, equipment, support, and implementation guidance—addressing the 72% of companies that have not yet electrified.
• Intelligent energy management: Smart charging schedules, off-peak load optimization, and reduced energy costs.
We serve all types of electric fleets—from passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to electric trucks and e-buses—with custom solutions to match each segment's operational needs.
