Kia PV5: over 1,000 km tested in real-world conditions across Romania
Turatii.ro tested the Kia PV5 5L 71.2 kWh COMFORT LINE on an extended journey of over 1,000 km across Romania, with stops at Eldrive’s charging stations.
The test included highways, national roads, and various traffic conditions, providing a realistic overview of the vehicle’s consumption, range, and long-distance performance.
Throughout the route, charging sessions were carried out at Eldrive stations in Sibiu, Moșnița Nouă, Sebeș, and Pitești. At the Sibiu station, the Kia PV5 charged at power levels of up to approximately 128–130 kW, with a charging session from 16% to 86% taking around 39 minutes.
At Moșnița Nouă, the vehicle added 58.15 kWh in approximately 47 minutes, reaching a maximum charging power of 129.21 kW. Later, in Sebeș, the vehicle was charged from 6% to 91%, adding 62.63 kWh with a maximum power of 128.42 kW during a session of around 51 minutes. On the return journey, the final charging stop was completed at Supernova Pitești, with 13 minutes of charging at 130 kW.
Throughout the trip, the Kia PV5 demonstrated consistent fast-charging capabilities, maintaining values of around 130 kW. Under ideal conditions, the estimated charging time from 10% to 80% remained relatively short.
After covering more than 1,100 km, the average consumption recorded during the journey was approximately 21.6 kWh/100 km. In highway conditions, at speeds of up to 130 km/h, consumption stabilized at around 28 kWh/100 km, providing a realistic view of the vehicle’s performance during long-distance travel.
This journey highlights the importance of charging infrastructure that is prepared for the rapid evolution of electric mobility. With fast-charging stations available across multiple locations along the route and the ability to support charging speeds above 130 kW, the Eldrive network was able to meet the needs of a new-generation vehicle such as the Kia PV5.
As electric vehicles continue to introduce increasingly advanced technologies, scalable and future-ready charging infrastructure becomes essential to supporting the continued transition towards electric mobility.
