Eldrive Romania reaches 700 electric vehicle charging points, up from 600 in May this year. The 100 new charging points cover geographic areas in Romania where Eldrive previously had no presence, while also diversifying charging options in already covered areas. Eldrive Romania has surpassed 25,000 users and is launching two subscription plans that allow charging at lower costs.
“We now have better national coverage than ever, and all our efforts are focused on installing new EV charging stations across the entire country. We are quickly approaching our goal of having 1,000 Eldrive charging points nationwide by the end of 2025,” said Camelia Popescu, Country Manager of Eldrive Romania.
Alongside reaching 700 charging points in the country, Eldrive Romania is also launching a subscription system. Two types of subscriptions are available.
The first is Eldrive Smart, which costs 29 Lei/month and allows charging at a rate of 1.9 Lei/unit.
The second is Eldrive Pro, which costs 55 Lei/month and allows charging at a rate of 1.75 Lei/unit.
These prices apply for the first 250 units charged, after which the standard rate of 2.55 Lei/unit is applied. All prices include VAT.
For a long-range electric vehicle with a battery of around 75 kWh, the Eldrive Pro subscription (55 Lei/month) pays off even with the first full charge.
With Eldrive Pro, a full charge (75 kWh) costs 131.25 Lei.
Without a subscription, the cost is 191.25 Lei.
For such a vehicle, the 250 discounted units included in both Eldrive Smart and Eldrive Pro subscriptions allow for more than three full charges.
And with these three full charges, users can travel between 1,000 and 2,000 km – depending on speed, road type, weather conditions, driving style, and the specific EV model.
For smaller, city EVs usually equipped with ~30 kWh batteries, the Eldrive subscriptions allow more than eight full charges at a lower cost.
“We’ve structured these subscriptions so that a user can drive at least 12,000 km, and up to 24,000 km per year, at costs roughly 20% lower than standard prices without a subscription,” explained Camelia Popescu.
Compared to the standard rate (2.55 Lei/unit), users who charge 250 units per month save 133.5 Lei/month with the Eldrive Smart subscription, and 145 Lei/month with Eldrive Pro. This translates to annual savings of 1,602 Lei (Eldrive Smart) and up to 1,740 Lei (Eldrive Pro).
“With these subscriptions, we aim to further strengthen the loyalty of the 25,000 users we already have in Romania, and to offset the rising energy and VAT costs through higher charging volumes,” said Camelia Popescu.
The sustained pace of EV charging station installations in 2025 has been made possible thanks to strong partnerships Eldrive Romania has signed with major companies operating in the country, such as Square 7, Antares, and Cometex (Altex).
