Lithuania continues to rapidly expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This week, construction began on he fourth Eldrive EV charging park, strategically located at the 51stkilometer of the Vilnius–Klaipėda highway. The new park will feature 10ultra-fast charging stations (200 kW), with potential future upgrades increasing their power capacity up to 400 kW. These stations could charge up to20 electric vehicles simultaneously. A modern 318-square-meter building will also be constructed on-site, housing a Caffeine café, as well as dedicated work and rest areas.

This strategically situated park will become a crucial part of the national charging network, ensuring convenient journeys between the capital and the seaside.

The first Eldrive charging park, which opened in December 2024 near Panevėžys, quickly proved the viability of such infrastructure—dozens of electric vehicles stop there daily, and the project has been recognized as one of the top ten EV charging parks worldwide. The second park began operations in February 2025, located on the same highway at the 156th kilometer. Both parks feature 10 ultra-fast charging stations (200kW), capable of simultaneously serving up to 20 vehicles.

“Every new charging park reduces drivers concerns about the availability of charging points during their journey. The Vilnius–Klaipėda highway is one of Lithuania’s busiest transport corridors, so the need for such infrastructure in this area is clear,” says Tomas Tamašauskas, Head of Eldrive Lithuania.

The total investment in the project will exceed EUR 2 million, with the park’s opening scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

“We want our charging stations to become more than just a necessity—they should enhance the travel experience. Drivers here will not only enjoy fast charging but also have the opportunity to relax, enjoy coffee, or get some work done,” adds Saulius Žilėnas, CEO of Reitan Convenience Lithuania, the key project partner that operates the Caffeine and Narvesen brands.

Approximately 28,000 vehicles pass daily through the section of the Vilnius–Klaipėda highway where the park is being constructed. Many travelers are heading to the seaside or undertaking logistics and business trips, making this next-generation charging facility particularly essential.

According to T. Tamašauskas, Eldrive aims to ensure comfortable and comprehensive charging infrastructure throughout Lithuania:

“This summer, a third, slightly smaller charging park will open near Varėna, and by the end of the year, there will be four such facilities operating nationwide. This not only ensures convenience for drivers but also represents a significant step toward fulfilling European Union requirements for electric vehicle infrastructure development.”

According to data from Lithuania’s Ministry of Energy, around 60,000 public and private EV charging points are expected to be operational by 2030. Currently, nearly 19,000 electric vehicles are registered in Lithuania, with their numbers steadily increasing. A network of fast-charging parks is becoming essential for continued EV market growth.

“We aim to eliminate outdated myths regarding the inconvenience of using electric vehicles. Our charging stations allow cars to be recharged in just 10–20 minutes—the approximate duration of a short travel break for coffee, snacks, or restroom use. Our goal is to ensure smooth, comfortable, and worry-free travel for EV drivers,” says T. Tamašauskas.

The park building will meet the highest energy efficiency standards, classified as A++. Charging stations will feature a dynamic power management system to optimally distribute electricity according to the real-time charging needs of vehicles.

The Rietavas Municipality, where the project is located, has also expressed strong support for this initiative.

Stefan Spassov, CEO of Eldrive Holding GmbH,emphasizes: “Our mission at Eldrive is clear—we strive to develop the most extensive and reliable EV charging network in the region. Each new Eldrive charging park not only enhances convenience for drivers but also significantly accelerates the adoption of electric mobility across Europe. We remain committed to continuous investment and innovation, making electric vehicle journeys seamless and accessible for everyone.”
