The Best Electric Car competition, one of the most important events dedicated to electric mobility in Romania, has announced the winners of this year’s edition. Following comparative tests carried out by a jury made up of automotive specialists, journalists, and electric mobility experts, the grand prize “Best Electric Car 2026” was awarded to the BMW iX3.
The event, organized by AutoExpert in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests and supported by Arval, brought together some of the most important international electric vehicle launches of the moment.
During the 2026 edition, the finalist models were charged at Eldrive Romania stations, where they were also tested by employees, customers, and event partners. Eldrive’s involvement supported the tests under real-world conditions and highlighted the essential role of charging infrastructure in the development of Romania’s electromobility ecosystem.
The eight finalist models represented different directions in the evolution of electric mobility, ranging from premium SUVs and luxury sedans to affordable urban models:
- BMW iX3
- BYD Seal U
- Kia EV5
- Mercedes-Benz CLA EQ
- MG 4 Urban
- Renault 4
- Volvo ES90
- Zeekr 7X
The final stage of the competition took place on May 18–19, along an approximately 700 km urban and extra-urban route. The models were evaluated based on real-world range, energy consumption, charging speed, technology, driving performance, comfort, and value for money.
Eldrive charging stations were an integral part of the testing experience, enabling participants and organizers to charge the competing electric models quickly and efficiently.

- Best Electric Tech – Zeekr 7X
- Best Electric Range – Mercedes-Benz CLA EQ
- Best Electric Consumption – MG 4 Urban
- Best Electric Design – Renault 4
- Best Electric Premium – Volvo ES90
- Best Electric City 2026 – Ploiești
