A New Eldrive EV Charging HUB opens at Rimi Šiaurės miestelis

A new Eldrive electric vehicle charging park has officially opened in Vilnius, in the Šiaurės Miestelis district, at the “Rimi” store parking lot next to “Švaros Broliai”. This is the largest Eldrive charging location at a “Rimi“ store in Lithuania, where EV drivers can use four ultra-fast 200 kW charging stations and five 44 kW AC charging stations. In total, the site offers as many as 18 charging bays.

The new location is situated in one of the busiest areas of the capital – Šiaurės Miestelis, where shopping centres, leisure zones, businesses, residential developments, and large daily traffic flows are concentrated. For EV drivers, this provides the opportunity to conveniently charge their vehicles while shopping, running daily errands, or working in this part of the city.

Convenience where everyday life happens

According to Tomas Tamašauskas, Head of Eldrive Lithuania, the new charging park is an important step in expanding convenient high-power EV charging infrastructure where it is needed most by drivers in their daily mobility.

“Šiaurės Miestelis is one of the most active parts of Vilnius. There are numerous retail locations, leisure areas, businesses, residential neighbourhoods, and constant daily movement of people. Therefore, EV charging infrastructure in such locations must be powerful, convenient, and provide sufficient charging points to meet the growing needs of drivers and high traffic volumes. The new Eldrive charging park at “Rimi” parking lot gives drivers the opportunity to quickly charge their vehicles while shopping or taking care of other daily activities,” says T. Tamašauskas.

Vaidas Lukoševičius, CEO of “Rimi Lithuania”, says that the availability of EV charging at stores is becoming an increasingly important part of a modern and convenient shopping experience.

“More and more people are choosing electric vehicles, and their expectations while shopping are changing accordingly. Customers want to complete their daily tasks as conveniently as possible, so the ability to charge a vehicle while shopping is becoming increasingly relevant. We are pleased that together with Eldrive we can continue expanding this infrastructure at “Rimi” stores and provide even greater convenience in our customers’ daily routines,” says V. Lukoševičius.

Fast charging while shopping

The 200 kW charging stations enable extremely fast charging – often within the time it takes to complete a regular shopping trip or a short stop. For example, popular EVs such as the Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai IONIQ 5, and similar models can be charged from 10% to 80% in 20–30 minutes, depending on the vehicle model, battery capacity, temperature, and charging conditions.

“Fast charging fundamentally changes the EV ownership experience in cities. Drivers no longer need to plan lengthy stops – they can sufficiently charge their vehicles while shopping, taking a coffee break, or handling other daily tasks. Considering the heavy traffic and visitor volumes in this area, we installed more high-power charging points so that we can serve more drivers simultaneously and ensure a more convenient charging experience,” says T. Tamašauskas.

According to V. Lukoševičius, Šiaurės Miestelis is particularly well suited for this solution due to its intense activity and constant customer flow.

“Šiaurės Miestelis is one of the most dynamic areas of Vilnius, where life, work, and leisure intersect. Thousands of people visit the area every day, so the expansion of such infrastructure creates real value for customers. They can shop, take care of other daily errands, and conveniently charge their EVs at the same time without setting aside additional time specifically for charging,” says V. Lukoševičius.

Growing EV numbers increase the need for infrastructure

The expansion of EV charging infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as the number of electric vehicles in Lithuania continues to grow. As of 1 May 2026, more than 51,000 M1 and N1 category electric vehicles were registered in Lithuania, including more than 27,000 fully electric vehicles.

The growing EV fleet means that charging locations along everyday routes – near shopping centres, service locations, workplaces, and residential districts – are becoming particularly important. In such places, charging becomes not an additional concern, but a natural part of everyday travel.

The new Eldrive charging park in Šiaurės Miestelis, at the “Rimi” store parking lot next to “Švaros Broliai”, is already operational and open to all EV drivers.

Eldrive charging stations are now operating at 18 “Rimi” stores across Lithuania. The new Šiaurės Miestelis location has become the highest-capacity Eldrive charging park at a “Rimi” store and further strengthens the role of retail locations in expanding convenient EV charging infrastructure for everyday use.
